Reset Breath and Quiet Touch

 

 

I recently saw this picture created by I have asked permission to use it and feel it is a beautiful representation of The Reset Breath and it’s ability to connect us with all that exists.

 

WHAT IS THE RESET BREATH?

The Reset Breath© is an intentional breath designed to signal the brain that something is about to change and you require its full attention. The breath is done one time with no need to repeat it until another change is desired. When you do the Reset Breath©, the brain receives the signal to integrate the new information that it is receiving. As heart rhythm, breathing patterns and brain waves are synchronized, the physiology begins to shift. The Reset Breath© not only alerts the brain that a change is being requested, it also establishes that you are in resonance with the planet upon which you reside and all that exists upon it…EARTH PACE©

 

Our normal cycle of breathing is “in and out”. Ancient cultures understood the importance of breaking the cycle and worked with breath in their practice. When doing The Reset Breath©, beginning with an exhale sends the signal, the cycle is broken and the body physiology begins to respond and change. You may notice a slight rush in the back of your head…this has been related to a rush of high Alpha. Recent studies have suggested that relaxation, creativity, higher cognitive abilities and focused awareness are enhanced when alpha waves are engaged.

To receive maximum benefit from The Reset Breath, it is recommended that you use it frequently during your day. You will know that you have fully integrated this practice when you no longer have to remember to use it.

 

The following text will provide the language for your use

when sharing The Reset Breath with others.

#1: In order to fully integrate this experience, it is demonstrated in three segments. I will first TELL you how to do it…then SHOW you how to do it…and then we will DO IT TOGETHER. You may find yourself trying to do it with me as I demonstrate. Please wait until I ask you to do it with me. Remember, to integrate this for use at a later time, it is important that you “hear” it, “see” it or “feel” it vibrationally and “do it”. This is essential to engage the full sensory system and trigger memory held within the body.

Our normal breathing pattern is an inhale followed by an exhale. The Reset Breath© begins with an exhale in order to signal the brain that something is about to change and we want it to pay attention.

  • Begin by counting out loud to five (5), (this is to be done during the learning process so you learn to begin with an exhale) immediately exhale or blow out through your mouth.
  • Next, inhale through your nose. It is important to bring your breath deep into your diaphragm, keeping your shoulders relaxed as you inhale.
  • Next, exhale fully and completely through your mouth.
  • PAUSE and notice what you might experience in your body as you resume your normal breathing.

#2: Now I would like for you to observe me as I demonstrate this breath for you. Again, I remind you to observe as I do it. (Do this demonstration without conversation)

#3: You have heard the explanation, seen or felt the demonstration…now it is time for us to do it together. Are you ready? (Now you will do it with them and observe carefully for this is the time to correct anything that is not being done with proper technique or attention)

WHAT IS QUIET TOUCH?

Quiet Touch might be used anytime you feel yourself in a place of anxiety, fatigue or when you are in an environment that leaves you feeling uncomfortable or disengaged. Place the LEFT hand anywhere on your chest that is comfortable…it is likely that your hand will fall naturally near your heart area. There is a significant reason for that.

The human body’s innate ability to self-regulate combined with the specific positioning of Quiet Touch© triggers the internal encoding within the body. When we place our left palm at the center of the chest, we are connecting two electromagnetic fields. This connection creates a resonance that results in what some refer to as a moment when we are connected to all that exists…in perfect resonance. Source to Source. The right hand at or just below the belly button engages the vagus nervous system, sending information and signals throughout the body system.

 

The following text may be used when sharing Quiet Touch with others.

  • Begin this exercise by firmly placing the palm of your left hand comfortably on your chest, in the area of your heart. (Observe that the hand and arm are in a relaxed position).
  • Next, place the right hand just below the belly button. (You might find that your right hand falls comfortably with your thumb at the belly button).
  • Notice and observe any sensations that you might experience. Do the Reset Breath and continue to observe the rhythm of your breathing. Awareness is accelerated. As an additional experience, switch hand placement to notice if there is any difference. Take as much time as you require.
  • It is important to remember that you place your LEFT hand on your chest and your RIGHT hand near the belly button to receive maximum benefit from Quiet Touch.
  • Continue to be present and observe any sensations or thoughts that might arise. This is the time when your focus is to Observe and Notice…to become the observer of yourself, your physical form as well as the environment around you.

 

SUPPORT FOR THE RESET BREATH AND QUIET TOUCH

A pioneer in a new field of study called neuroeconomics; Paul Zak has demonstrated that oxytocin is responsible for a variety of virtuous behaviors in humans such as empathy, generosity and trust. Amazingly, he has also discovered that social networking triggers the same release of oxytocin in the brain — meaning that e-connections are interpreted by the brain like in-person connections. A professor at Claremont Graduate University in Southern California, Zak believes most humans are biologically wired to cooperate, when oxytocin levels are high in subjects, people’s generosity to strangers increases up to 80 percent; and countries with higher levels of trust – lower crime, better education – fare better economically. Oxytocin – The Neurochemical of Everything Good January 27, 2011 www.oxytocincentral.com Oxytocin is the brain’s naturally occurring hormone of “tend and befriend” (Healing Heartache, Sept. 2008), the molecule of motherly love and attachment (The Neurobiology of Feeling Unlovable, Feb. 2009), the neuropeptide of safety and trust that is the direct and immediate antidote to “fight-flight-freeze.” (Stress and Trauma, March 2009) The fast-track way is through touch and warmth. Because there are neural cells around the heart, placing our hand on our heart and breathing deeply into our heart center activates the parasympathetic nervous system and begins to calm down the fight-flight arousal of the sympathetic nervous system.
